Quincy’s Blog
On this blog you will find updates and info about our first dog, Quincy!
See the accompanying photo gallery.
Quincy went to his second puppy kindergarten class today. He loves it! So many doggies his size to play with! He definitely is a little more “hyper” than some of the other dogs, but it doesn’t get in the way of his learning - I promise!
We continued practicing “puppy pushups” for a little while, then the pups got a little free play!! That was pretty much Quincy’s queue to chase the rotti “JR” around the class for 10 minutes. Quincy is very appropriately cautious when he meets other puppies, but once he gets to know them, he really likes to lead the play time. We were hoping JR would be a little more assertive and tell Quincy when enough is enough, but he didn’t this week - maybe next! A couple of older dogs have given Quincy “the snarl” for this and he totally understands, he just needs a puppy his own size to do it too so he understands when he gets too rambunctious!
After free time Quincy started to learn “Drop it/Take it” with a veal chew... Veal chews were a new level of stinkyness for us and a new level deliciousness for Quincy! Jacquie and I found it quite amusing that he developed a preference for one of the sticks and would chase it behind our backs when we took it away instead of taking the other one!! He does the drop fairly reliably though, and this is something we will definitely practice lots at home as I see the value in it for a harrier!
On the way home, Quincy got to have a short walk on the dyke, which was a new experience for him, and he definitely liked the 15 minutes - he was a little reluctant to get in the car, which is unusual!

Puppy K, Week 2...
