Quincy’s Blog
On this blog you will find updates and info about our first dog, Quincy!
Oh my, what to say? Such unreal excitement...
I left the shop on Saturday night at around 7 pm and drove as far as I could... Having been to Wynfield about 3 weeks prior, I knew the drive I was in for! I stopped quickly in Bellingham for gas, an attempt at Taco Bell (the line up was WAY too long) and to take the roof rack off the car. I eventually crashed at the Motel 6 in Tigard, Oregon - at about 1:25 am! I basically couldn’t sleep anyhow, I eventually closed my eyes some time just after 2.
Sunday started with be sitting bolt upright in bed at 6 am... Those who know me will know that I must have been excited... Most mornings I am lucky if I drag myself out of bed by 9 (this has now changed by the way!!!).
I quickly packed and checked out and drove the 30 minutes to Woodburn and at down at Denny’s for a quick breakfast (actually, no, I didn’t have moons over my hammy!!!).
9 am couldn’t have come quickly enough and I pulled up in front of Ellen and Doug’s at 9 on the dot. I was greeted by the newest addition to our family - Quincy! The other dogs were all away so it was just one-on-one time with Quincy and myself (and of course Ellen and Doug). Actually Nika was running around too as she needed to be in the house for her pups.
It took about an hour to get everything sorted as I needed the full run-down. Boy do I appreciate all the hard work Ellen has done to make sure her puppies go to homes that are well-prepared. She gave me a fabulous booklet of info that has been price-less.
At around 10 we said our good byes and I started the long drive home with a SCREAMING puppy! After about 5 minutes the rhythm of the highway has him sound asleep... We made a quick stop about an hour and a half north of Wynfield’s and I snapped a few quick pictures there. We continued home, stopping just before the border for a pee break, then after long wait at the customs office, we were almost home. I say almost because we waited nearly an hour at the Massey Tunnel!
When we finally arrived home (at 6:16, 8 and a quarter hours and 560 km after leaving Woodburn) we were greeted by one exited mummy!!! Check out those pictures here.
Needless to say, a fantastic day!
